Feeding therapy helps children build the skills and confidence they need to explore and enjoy a wider variety of foods in a way that feels safe and positive. At Miller Feeding Solutions, we look beyond simply “getting kids to eat.” We take the time to understand why eating feels hard, whether it’s related to sensory sensitivities, oral motor challenges, or anxiety around food, so we can support the root of the difficulty.
Through play-based exploration, gentle exposure, and individualized strategies, we help children feel more comfortable and curious around new foods. Over time, that curiosity turns into confidence and success.
The goal isn’t just more bites on the plate. It’s helping mealtimes feel calmer, more enjoyable, and less stressful for both the child and the whole family.
Myofunctional therapy helps children build strength and coordination in the muscles of the mouth, tongue, and face so they can eat, breathe, and grow more comfortably. At Miller Feeding Solutions, we take the time to understand what’s really going on beneath the surface. Sometimes that means looking at things like mouth breathing, tongue posture, or oral habits that are quietly affecting how a child eats and rests.
When these muscles aren’t working together the way they should, it can impact chewing and swallowing, breathing during the day and night, and even how the face and jaw develop over time. Through individualized exercises and gentle habit changes, we help guide the body back toward more natural patterns. This often leads to easier, more efficient eating, better quality sleep, and an overall sense of comfort in the body.
Our goal is simple. We want children to breathe more easily, eat with confidence, and feel at ease in their everyday routines.

Evaluation
A feeding evaluation is a comprehensive assessment that helps uncover the root causes of a child's feeding challenges. It includes a thorough review of medical history, observation during feeding, a sensory evaluation, and a mealtime assessment. When appropriate, the evaluation also incorporates myofunctional therapy to assess how the oral and facial muscles function and coordinate during eating and swallowing.
The goal of the evaluation is to identify the child’s feeding strengths and challenges, explore any underlying medical or developmental factors, and create a personalized treatment plan tailored to their unique needs. This initial step lays the foundation for effective, targeted feeding therapy that supports the child’s overall well-being.

Treatment
Feeding therapy—including myofunctional therapy when appropriate—is a specialized treatment that helps children overcome feeding difficulties.
Our approach is rooted in play-based exposure, creating a pressure-free environment where children can comfortably engage with food. We recognize that as children become more relaxed around food, they become more willing to try new things. This method addresses sensory sensitivities while incorporating behavioral strategies to manage mealtime challenges. Through playful interaction and gradual exposure, therapy builds positive associations with food and encourages a sustainable, healthy relationship with eating. Depending on each child’s unique needs, therapy may also focus on improving oral motor skills and coordination to support effective chewing and swallowing.
